areme was born from a simple idea: to elevate the value of local botanical resources and to create comforting sensory experiences through natural scents.
areme is a natural essential oil and aroma-based body care brand. Using carefully selected botanical ingredients sourced from Vietnam and Japan, areme delivers pure, safe, and environmentally conscious products suitable for aromatherapy and holistic well-being.
From raw ingredients to essential oils
In many agricultural regions in Vietnam, the overuse of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides in conventional farming has led to soil degradation, water pollution, and long-term adverse impacts on human health. Most crops are sold as raw materials with low added value, while agricultural by-products—such as fruit peels, leaves, and thinned flowers—are often discarded, resulting in significant waste. Our R&D team recognized these by-products as an untapped resource with tremendous potential.
In our early days, we worked with a small group of farmers to grow green mandarin and pomelo using sustainable, environmentally friendly cultivation methods. We collected thinned fruits—previously treated as waste—and distilled them into high-value essential oils through steam distillation. These efforts gradually built trust within the local farming community.
Together with committed farmers and partners, we now continue to expand our research into unique fragrances extracted from precious native plants: naturally grown mountain king oranges, indigenous herbs, Japanese misho yuzu, and hinoki (Japanese cypress) and sugi (Japanese cedar) wood.
Through this work, we have come to understand that each essential oil is not only defined by its aroma, but also by its inherent therapeutic properties and the biological characteristics of the plant itself. Continuous collaboration with raw plant materials has strengthened our appreciation for natural ecosystems and their complexity. We recognize the importance of managing these resources responsibly—preserving their integrity for future generations and delivering their true value to our customers.
Authentic, distinctive scents that reflect local identity
Vietnam’s diverse climate and rich ecosystems produce unique botanical species found nowhere else. From citrus fruits (pomelo, mandarin) and herbs (lemongrass, basil) to aromatic spices (mountain pepper, star anise, black pepper), they adapt to their local climate and soil, resulting in signature fragrance and potent active ingredients.
These native plants reflect the unique identity of their origins. Lang Son star anise, Quang Tri black pepper, Hanoi’s Dien pomelo, and Dong Thap green mandarin are all deeply woven into the local culture and agricultural history, becoming iconic scents of their respective regions. At areme, we take pride in highlighting these local characteristics through our essential oils, sharing stories of the land and its people with you through the scents of nature.
areme’s natural scents embody the original, unaltered aroma of each plant species—reflecting the unique characteristics of their native environments. We collaborate closely with farmers and production partners in Vietnam and Japan to study region-specific botanicals and explore the best extraction methods to produce exceptional essential oils.
Alongside these Vietnamese treasures, we also explore unique essential oils from around the world, such as Japanese misho yuzu and hinoki wood (cypress), Kenyan Damask Rose, and French Lavandin. We prioritize oils with exceptional aromatic and therapeutic value, providing our customers with high-quality, safe, and natural choices—each carefully researched for specific applications within your living space.
